Support KVT FOR DISASTER RELIEF AND REHABILITATION IN BIHAR
Bihar has been hit by devastating floods triggered by incessant rains.
The catastrophic floods have claimed many lives, damaged houses, roads, schools and agricultural lands, and affected livelihoods of many households. Over 33 lakh people across 14 districts in Bihar have been affected, and at least 175 people have lost their lives. The situation has forced more almost 4 lakh people to live in 464 relief camps across the state.
KVT volunteers is responding to the situation, Our search and rescue team are working .we are reaching out to 2000 households in Khagaria,Mungair and Purnia and Sharsa district. KVT has need priority during the crisis is to community kitchen ,distribute hygiene kits, tarpaulins, blankets, solar lamps, jerry cans ,water purification tablets and First aid kits among other relief items. After flood needs First hand camps and materials for prevent r water-borne diseases like diarrhoea, malaria and dengue , school bag and education kits and clothes for poor children.
From July to September 2016 , the toll in Bihar floods is 228(Two hundred twenty Eight).Rivers like Punpun, Kosi and Kamlabalan, are flowing above danger mark.With deaths reported from districts of Saran and Begusarai, Bihar is facing one of the worst floods in the decade despite receiving less than normal rainfall as all the major rivers flowing through the state are in a spate.Caused by a spate in Ganga, Sone, Punpun, Burhi Gandak, Ghaghra, Kosi and other rivers, the flood affected 34.69 lakh(Thirty Four Lac and Sixty Nine Thousand) people in 2,037 villages under 565 panchayats of 74 blocks have been affected.Punpun river in Patna, Kosi river at in Khagaria district and Kamlabalan in Jhanjharpur district were flowing above danger level.KVT has been working for Disaster management and Relief work since long. Your support is needed to provide Relief and Rehabilitation to the flood affected people living in remote areas of Bihar. KVT needs Food grains, First Aid Kits,Health Kits and Education Kit for children.
Kissan Vikas Trust (KVT) is a voluntary organization registered under charitable Trust Act. KVT has been working at Khagaria, Siwan, Saharsa, Samastipur and Gaya districts of Bihar and Dhanbad, Chatra, Deoghar, and Bokaro district of Jharkhand. KVT has been striving for the betterment of the most deprived and marginalized sections of the society as its target group since its inception. KVT’s journey is 10 years long and during this time frame it has faced lots of barriers and challenges. To overcome these barriers and challenges KVT has undertaken many initiatives. The organization aims to empower the economically weaker & socially marginalized sections of the society through their capacity building.
KVT works with children, women, handicapped people, poor & deprived section of the society to bring them to the mainstream of development by ensuring their rights and dignity. Major areas of interest of the organization are promotion of Child Rights & Child Protection, Empowerment of Women, promotion of Self Help Groups (SHG's), Adult Education, Primary & Non – Formal Education, development of Basic Health & Hygiene as well as awareness about HIV/AIDS and Employment generation through Vocational Training.
The organization has been initiated by a group of individuals committed for the development of rural communities under the guidance of Mr. Prabhat Kumar who has a long experience in the field of development. The trust has started its initiatives in the areas of Education, Health, Child Protection, and Disaster Preparedness.
